THANKS Everyone!

Today Mormon Times reported that Women of the Book of Mormon climbed to #2 Bestseller on the Deseret Book Top Ten bestsellers list.

A big thank you to my blog followers for the reviews and word of mouth.

My editor told me that the book is going into a 2nd printing.

Below, I included a picture of my editor (Eliza) so she can get some credit. We are posing at the Whitney Gala that was this past weekend. Also, in the red dress is Danyelle Ferguson, who has her first book coming out in June, called (dis)Abilities and the Gospel.

The three ladies from the LDS Women's Book Review Podcast also chatted with me about the book. I'll post the podcast when it's ready. Below is Hillary, Sheila, Me, and Shanda.

And . . . I attended the Storymakers Conference this weekend. No, I didn't win the Whitney Award, but it was great to be a finalist. A shout out to GG Vandagriff, author of The Last Waltz, who took the Whitney for Best Historical. You can read more about the evening HERE in which David Wolverton/Farland took the award for Best Novel.

I had a reporter, Michael De Groote, from the Deseret News in my workshop. Talk about intimidating. But his write-up was a riot. This is what he had to say HERE.

I also gave a briefing about hosting agent Laura Rennert from Andrea Brown Literary Agency HERE. I have a picture as well!

Tons of Reviews!

Thanks so much to all of the reviewers that are posting this past week. They've been rolling in and it's been fun to see what each person likes in particular.

Also, I'm getting ready for the LDS Storymakers Conference this weekend. Annette Lyon and I are running the early morning Boot Camp. I'm also teaching a workshop and moderating a panel. I'll be so glad when it gets going. All the preparation can be a bit stressful and I have lists all over the place, hoping I won't "forget" anything.

Also debating about what to wear to the Whitney Gala. I'm not much of a shopper, in fact, if it's not at Costco, I usually don't buy it. I did look on-line at used stuff, but it was too hard to commit without trying anything on. The best part about the conference is seeing old and new friends!

Book Signings this weekend

Friday: April 16, 2010 - Lunch hour at Spanish Fork Seagull Book 12:00-1:30 p.m. Join me at Seagull Book where I’ll be signing copies of Women of the Book of Mormon. 1052 N. Main, Spanish Fork, Utah.

Saturday: April 17, 2010 - Signing at Clinton Seagull Book 2:00-4:00 p.m. Join me at Seagull Book where I’ll be signing copies of Women of the Book of Mormon. 1803 West 1800 North, Clinton, UT.

Today (April 15) is the LAST Day to register for the LDS Storymakers Writers Conference. No walk-ins this year. It will be a fantastic writers conference. I look forward to seeing some of you there. Make sure to stop me and say "hi"--there are 420 registered so far.

REVIEWS: Thanks to the following reviewers for posting their reviews of WOMEN:

Karlene--Inksplasher

Chantele--There is Always Something to Read

Lexie Hogan

Also, GG Vandagriff interviewed me for Meridian Magazine HERE. Thanks GG!

I appreciate the reviews and how it gets the word out! WOMEN should be in most stores by now and is also at Costco's in Utah.

PASSPORTS: I'm taking my kids to Jerusalem next month and all of our passports just arrived. Now it seems real! After the Storymaker conference I'll have to start thinking about stuff like . . . luggage. I don't think duffel bags will work.

AMMON Update: Not much writing done this week so far. I did the PEG Write-A-Thon last Thursday and wrote almost 5,000 words. So of course, I've had to do some clean-up from that. I proofed the final galleys for Alma the Younger, so that's a good excuse, and it reminded me of some things I needed for Ammon's character.

Cover is here--Alma the Younger

Here is a sneak peek at the cover. Alma the Younger will be out in June. Cover art is by Gary Kapp.

I'll be announcing a blog tour for Alma the Younger in mid May. Stay tuned!

Also, many thanks for the reviews that have come in on Women:

Rebecca Irvine--Writer & Reviewer

Heather Justesen--Author

Queen of Chaos--Autumn Ables

Don Carey--Author

Julie Wright--Author

Cheri Chesley--Author

Taffy's Candy--Writer & Reviewer

I'm keeping a tally on the side bar of my Ammon update. I just used my 15 year old son to help with the scene in which Ammon gets his nose broken. My son was (accidentally) kicked in the face by his sister while boating last summer and had his nose broken. Probably didn't help that his sister is a soccer player and has a mean kick to begin with.

Write-A-Thon & Great Signings

If you're a writer, you definitely don't want to miss out on this contest:

On Thursday, April 8, 2010 Precision Editing Group will be sponsoring a Write-a-Thon and we're inviting writers to show us how many words you can write in 4 hours! The winner will receive their choice of a $50 Amazon.com gift card OR a 50 page content edit by one of the Precision Editing Group Editors. Go HERE for more info!

This weekend, the book signings have been great. Mostly because "Women" was able to make it into the stores--thanks to my publisher for hand-delivering copies to the various locations. Also . . . non-fiction rocks. Why didn't I think of it before? Oh yeah, the research is incredibly hard :)

Here I am with Deanna Buxton (right), cookbook author extraordinaire, and one of her big fans (Patricia, in the middle)--soon to be one of my big fans (I just know it!). Deanna will also be signing with me at the official launch party for "Women" on April 30. Details HERE.

Writing Update: Ammon proposal got the "thumbs up" from my publisher. 7800 words into it. And I'm finalizing the audio guide for the audio recording of Alma the Younger. Cover coming soon!

The 6 week contest is ending just in time. This morning I picked up a couple boxes of books at my publisher. My husband came with me to carry boxes. He opened a book and said, "Why is it so short?" Most people would be impressed that it's so long. LOL.

Here's my daughter holding a copy.
